Pinterest is a social media site where anyone is able to present their own thoughts through images. The boards that I created were resources for students, content, and pedagogy. I also have the Educ204toi board which I joined. The boards I created connect to the elements in 1D : demonstrating knowledge of resources. I created them to explore the various resources I could find within each element. While the boards relate to 1D, Pinterest goes along with 4E : growing and developing professionally. An element of 4E is enhancement of Content Knowledge and Pedagogical Skill. Teachers can use Pinterest to gather information and ideas for their classroom; they are enhancing their knowledge.
Creating Pinterest was new for me. I did not think you could use it professionally, but i was wrong. It is a great resource for coming up with ideas to use in the classroom. Something I would do differently would be updating and pinning more items I find. When I pin ideas, it enhances my digital presence. This ties into my foundations of teaching because we talk about how to be professional. Using Pinterest to look up new ideas is furthering my knowledge, showing how as a teacher, I want to learn more ways to help my students. I can see myself using this in the future; there are so many creative ways to teach, and it is easily accessible. If I need help on a lesson plan idea, I can search key words and it gives me a list of pins. Overall, Pinterest is a great site to use other people's ideas and to share your own ideas, to grow professionally.
