2E: Organizing Physical Space
This component focuses on creating a safe and accessible learning environment. It specifically looks at the layout of the classroom itself, and how it should be formatted in a strategic way that will benefit both the teacher and student. In a classroom, there are chairs, desks, cabinets, and other furniture items. There are also space and materials that need to be placed in such as way that the class becomes a productive learning space.
It is important because the classroom is where the students are a majority of the day. It needs to be safe to them so they can learn better. Placing furniture around the room should be easy for both the teacher and student to move around in the class. While it is important to be physically safe, it important to allow the students to be emotionally and mentally safe as well.

I had an internship my senior year in a first grade classroom. I can use what I observed in that classroom to forma layout in my future classroom. |
Other Teachers:
I can ask for advice from teachers who seem to have a positive and safe layout. |
