Newsletter
Creating newsletter is a great idea to connect with parents and students. Using Smores.com, I created subtitles with information in each. I typed in the information and it was set up; a very easy tool to work with. Parents and students can participate in this activity by looking at the content. The newsletter is for them, informing them of what is happening. It fits into the component of communicating with families because this newsletter reaches the families of students and tells them what is going on in class. It ties directly into this component because it is about making sure parents are up to date with what their child is doing. With this newsletter, it informs the families what the upcoming events are, some information of what their child learns, and much more.
Creating this newsletter was super easy and fun. I liked the many options to incorporate in, but something I would do differently is use a different newsletter site. While I loved how easy it was, it only allowed me to create inserts horizontally. I would have liked to have organized my content so it was not just horizontal. This ties into my educational psych class. We talked in class about bringing in parents for parent teacher conferences. It is important to build a relationship with the parents so they will be encouraged to come to these meetings. Using a newsletter shows that you, the teacher, care about the parents as well. Knowing how important communication is, I will create newsletters for my future class. I know that if I were a parent, it would be much appreciated to be kept up to date on what my child is doing. Depending on what kind of school I would be in, I would use online newsletters and print them out for those who do not have access to the internet. |
