1C: Setting Instructional Outcomes
This component focuses on informing students on what they will learn during the lesson. The teacher needs to create objectives to show students what they do and what they will learn. The objectives must fit the state standards, curriculum guide, and the common core. A great teacher will also modify the lesson according to the needs of each student, so each student know what to do.
It is important because having objectives keeps the students focused and the teacher staying on task while keeping to state standards. It also allows the teacher to understand and show the students how the lesson will teach them. As a teacher, having these instructional outcomes will allow them to understand that the learning outcomes should reflect the variety of knowledge domains (knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation). Including other content areas so objectives overlap in different content information, is also important.
